Anjou Blanc, Bonnes Blanches

FRANCE – Loire – Anjou
Locality:
FRANCE – Loire – Anjou
Appellation:
Anjou
Grape Variety:
Chenin Blanc
WineMaker:
Vincent and Emmanuel Ogereau
Vineyard:
1.9 ha. planted in 1992 and 1993. Located in Saint-Lambert-Du-Lattay on the left bank of the Layon River, Bonnes Blanches is a gently sloping hillside on the north side with northeastern exposure. Very brittle schist subsoil, much more friable than other nearby terroirs, allowing the roots to dig deeper. Heavy topsoils with clays rich in quartz and gravel naturally limit the vines’ vigor.
Viticulture:
Organic (certified Ecocert) and biodynamic conversion (Biodyvin). Guyot-Poussard pruning.
WineMaking:
Directly pressed with whole cluster. Light decanting. Fermented in wooden casks of 20 hL, concrete egg, terracotta amphora and a new 228L oak barrel. Spontaneous malolactic conversion (may be partial or full, depending on the vintages).
Aging:
Aged for 10 months in in wooden casks of 20 hL, concrete egg, terracotta amphora and a new 228L oak barrel.
Bottling:
Light filtration.
