Château La Hase is a one-hectare estate near Fronsac on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, planted exclusively to Merlot. Owned and farmed by Jean-Yves Millaire, who took over the family domaine in 1998 after an 18-year lease, it is certified organic and follows biodynamic principles. The vineyard is cultivated without synthetic inputs, using horse-drawn ploughing and natural preparations guided by lunar rhythms. The soils are primarily clay and limestone, characteristic of the Fronsac appellation, providing both structure and freshness. Grapes are harvested by hand, and vinification takes place in amphoras to preserve purity and transparency of fruit. The wine is then aged for ten months in French oak barrels.
